KHANH HOA STEPS UP AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION RECOVERY FOR TET
03 Feb 2026

Khanh Hoa is accelerating the recovery of agricultural production after floods, focusing on vegetables, grapes and apples to meet market demand during the Tet holiday.
After suffering severe impacts from recent floods, Khanh Hoa Province is stepping up efforts to restore agricultural production ahead of Tet, prioritizing the recovery of damaged farming areas to ensure a stable supply of agricultural products for the Tet Holiday 2026.
Floods cause serious damage to agricultural production
According to reports, heavy rainfall from November 16–22, 2025, followed by continued downpours in early December, caused severe damage to agricultural production across Khanh Hoa Province. Large areas of vegetables, grapes and apples were inundated, while arable land was eroded, directly affecting the planting schedule of the Winter–Spring crop.

Farmers proactively rehabilitate land and replant vegetables
Immediately after floodwaters receded, many farming households in Vinh Hai Commune (Ninh Hai District, formerly part of Ninh Thuan Province) moved quickly to rehabilitate farmland, apply fertilizers and replant short-term vegetable crops to supply the Tet market.
Mr. Nguyen Tien, a vegetable grower in Vinh Hai Commune, said his family mainly cultivates vegetables and grapes-high-value crops for local farmers. The recent floods severely damaged most of their vegetable fields. After the floods, his family had to rehabilitate the soil, invest in fertilizers and seedlings, and replant crops such as scallions, basil and sawtooth coriander in hopes of harvesting in time for Tet.

Rising production costs after floods
According to farmers, post-flood recovery poses many challenges as fertile topsoil has been washed away, irrigation systems damaged, and production costs increased while access to capital remains limited.
Sharing the same concerns, Mr. Phan Van Huan, also from Vinh Hai Commune, said his family is still draining water and maintaining the remaining crops to salvage part of the harvest before being able to reinvest in large-scale production recovery.
Vinh Hai Commune - formed from the merger of Nhon Hai, Thanh Hai and the former Vinh Hai - has long been known not only for grapes as its key crop but also as a major vegetable-growing area, often compared to a “Da Lat-style vegetable hub.” Vegetable cultivation has provided a stable livelihood and reliable income for many local households.
Khanh Hoa rolls out agricultural production recovery plans
According to the Director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province has issued a comprehensive plan to restore agricultural production affected by floods, serving as a basis for local authorities to implement recovery measures.
Under the plan, Khanh Hoa is expected to allocate more than VND 224 billion for agricultural production recovery, including over VND 182 billion from the central budget and more than VND 42 billion from the local budget.
Supporting farmers for the Winter - Spring crop and Tet supply
The Department of Agriculture and Environment has instructed specialized units to work directly with farmers, providing guidance on drainage, soil rehabilitation, seed preparation and crop care for the 2025–2026 Winter - Spring crop.
Technical solutions focus on pest and disease control, monitoring crop health and prioritizing short-term crops to ensure early harvests, helping meet increased market demand during the Tet holiday.
According to the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, recent floods caused losses exceeding VND 697 billion in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors. Accelerating agricultural production recovery is expected to help farmers stabilize production while ensuring sufficient agricultural supply for rising consumer demand during the upcoming Tet Holiday.
